The Graduate

I believe Rockwell chose to place the graduate in front of the news paper to give us an insight into his life and his future. The headlines are very relevant. The headlines indicate what is going on in the world. The young man just graduated and he has to look forward to a possible draft, the war or going straight into the job force. The young man's posture and expression shows hopelessness and confusion. He doesn't exactly know what to expect or whats to come for his young life.
